Upstairs at Union Square is a small boutique hotel and inn located in the heart of Union Square. We are a block from the Union Square subway stop (4, 5, 6, L, N, R, Q, W) and located in the middle of the East Village, Gramercy and Murray Hill areas.

We offer short-term accomodations with rooms varying in size.

Even celebrities like WWE superstar Becky Lynch have stayed here!

Upstairs at Union Square is a family owned business that has been a home for travelers in New York City for over 15 years.

Over the years we have hosted families from all over the world, students and teachers, single travelers, New Yorkers who need a place for family & friends, J-1 student visa holders, and many others.

Property and Cancelation Policies

NO PREPAYMENT NEEDED. Pay At the Property.

Cancellation Policy : Cancel at least 24 hours prior to arrival to avoid penalty of 1 night plus tax. No show penalty of full amount of reservation.

All reservations must be guaranteed by a major credit card.

Terms and Conditions

Rooms are ready around 3PM. Check out time is at 11am.
Valid ID and Credit Card (Master or Visa only) are required and must be presented along with full payment upon arrival in order to book/ check in.

There is a charge fee of the Daily Room Rate for all late check outs. Maximum stay is 25 days. NO smoking on property.

Guests under 18 years old should have parental consent and valid student ID upon arrival.

We reserve the right to eject or evict registered and non-registered guests.

Exposed sprinkler pipes are not to be used to hang guest's belongings. Guests take full responsibility on damages caused by unnecessary additional stress/weight to sprinkler pipes. Steam Radiators omit surface heat and should not be used as a surface to lay personal belongings on top, Guest is responsible for any damages.

All rooms are private. Bathrooms on the 3rd and 4th floors are shared and located on the floor.

All accommodations include Wi-Fi.

Please be advised that we are in a walk-up building - no elevators.

There is no lobby or check-in desk. Everything is done online.

For guests with an extended length of stay, house keeping is available upon request.

Extra towels and linens are available upon request.
